Tuesday 11 November 2014

November 18th lesson

Dear students,
Today is your mid-term test. Part one of the test will be to explain a chart or graph. This should take about 20 minutes and you should write at least 150 words. The second part of the test will be to write an essay of over 250 words, and this should take about 40 minutes.
You have 70 minutes to complete this IETLS-style test. Unlike IELTS tests, however, you will be graded only on the best of your two essays, not on the average of your two scores. It is up to you, therefore, whether you wish to attempt both parts, or focus only on one.
Citations are unnecessary, and you may not use a dictionary.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin

You should also do assignment B either for homework beforehand or in class today.

Assignment B
Demonstrate that you understand summary, paraphrase, direct quotation and indirect quotation. Give definitions and examples of each, and don`t forget to include these as in-text citations and as part of your Works Cited.
